Music Monday - (Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay

Am back from our spring retreat....

As usual, it was a lovely get-away (see the view from the property we stayed at). There were walks along the beach, amazing food, good company, and much, much work accomplished....

This song ran through my head as we strolled along the water (although it is deceptive - sounding like a relaxing time was had, although not so much...)

Despite some very long days spent painting, it was a good trip. The book is nearly finished (thanks to this weekend!) and more retreat photos will follow...

WIP Wednesday - packing up

Slogging away on the final spreads for the current book. Just found out my deadline is more urgent than had been previously indicated [Warning: Dates in calendar may be closer than they appear] - so instead of packing up some fun experimental things to work on during our Spring Retreat this weekend, I shall continue with the slogging...

We'll see if I have any moments for walks along the water or picture taking.... stay tuned.

No ducklings in sight again this week :-(. However, I *did* see daffodils right and left...

...and even the start of the rhodys! wow....

WIP Wednesday - Gallery Open

Last Friday I attended the open for the 'dangerous' art show -

It is a small and diverse show - 

- with a wide variety of media, size and subject matter represented (which I wish I could show you in more detail, as well as the yummy spread of culinary delights, and the many delightful attendees, but alas, my camera battery died after these couple of pictures...)

Baba Yaga is tucked tidily in the corner above. Thus far, behaving herself.

I am wishing the gallery well for the duration....

Music Monday - more Great Big Sea!

This weekend, after 2 failed attempts, I finally got to go see Great Big Sea in concert. (I've posted about their awesomeness before, here.)

We got to see them at the old Moore Theater -

(I haven't been there before - twas all greys and castle-y..)

It was loud and high energy - as was to be expected I suppose...

...although my favorite songs of theirs are their awesome a capella traditional harmonies...which is what I'[m sharing with you today (from their latest album)-

I looked for the ducklings today, but did not see them. I did see this cute couple (I SO want a banty, blue cochin hen...)

...as well as this gaggle of red-hatted, purple wearing darlings (there are  several more just out of frame). Cute flocks all around! :-)
