"The thing that makes you exceptional, if you are at all, is inevitably that which must also make you lonely."
-Lorraine Hansberry, playwright and
painter (1930-1965)
"Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget. We lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that, in a year's time, will be forgotten by us and by everybody. No, let us devote our life to worthwhile actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring undertakings."
Andre Maurois
1885-1967, Writer

The top quote, in particular, is a theme I've often thought about but never articulated in that kind of way. I think it's significant that the writer was a playwright and painter, though - I'm not sure it's true of all exceptional people. Not to say it isn't - I'm just not sure ...
Maybe one has to find other exceptional people. Penny.
I think finding exceptional, or at least like-minded people is vital! (at least for *my* emotional well-being.) That's part of why I read all of your art blogs!
Ouch, that top statement is true I think. Our gifts can cause our thirst to relate more keen and thus cause longing. *sigh* double-edge sword.

Hi Tara, this is not to do with this blog, but I just spotted you on real illustrators group, found your website, and I wanted to say how amazing your hats and fairy wings are, they are really lovely!!
Penny.
Thanks Penny!
(Hi Ross! Nice to see you around)
Wow, that is one freaky looking flower, good symbolism though, too bad it seems to have to be that way sometimes.
That was me.
