Countdown - 4 days. Happy Solstice!

I have news for you:The stag bells, winter snows, summer has gone
Wind high and cold, the sun low, short its course
The sea running high.
Deep red the bracken; its shape is lost;
The wild goose has raised its accustomed cry,
Cold has seized the birds' wings;
Season of ice, this is my news

--9th century Irish

I am SO looking forward to the 'return of the light'!!! After our sunny morning, the clouds rolled in with a vengence and it looked like near-night by 3pm.

I did this painting as part of a series on The Celtic Tree Alphabet. Pine being one of my favorites. This particular 'tree' was based on my Uncle Bill, who actually raised Christmas trees for a living the latter part of his life. "O Christmas Tree" was his anthem - and we had to stand and put our hands over our hearts when we'd sing it. He died 4 years ago. I miss him still.

Happy Solstice Tara!
I wish you could have been at the Christmas Revels this week~ it was very good to gather together and sing during this dark time of year.
Merry Christmas!

That's a lovely piece of work Tara. It's funny that that was the Oracle card that I frequently picked the other week and its 'advice' has promted my change in direction.

Have a happy Solstice and a prosperous New Year.

Tara this is absolutely beautiful..it speaks to me! I shall never look at a pine tree again without this image in my head! I now know why all my bird visitors LOVE hiding within the branches of the pine trees!

18. Which do you prefer: giving or Receiving?
Giving – by far. I am a compulsive giver. Can’t seem to stop myself
