The "Official" Day - and 6 Weird Things...

Managed to squeeze in a bit of birthday-ing in today (the 4th - which is my "official" day-of-birth - sorry for the confusing allusion a couple of posts ago) between church, a much-needed nap and a very long daughter's french-horn recital. Had some family-phone-well-wishing calls, Alaskan-King-Crab legs for dinner (courtesy of my husband, the chef) and a nice, tidy pile of present-booty (my family makes good use of my Amazon wish-list!). I will have some new DVDs to watch and new music to listen to as I slave away in the studio... Tomorrow.

In the meantime, I will grace you with 6 Weirdish things about me, which Mermaid_Misk tagged me with awhile back. I'm not sure how weird these really are, but here you go:

Six weird things:

1. I LOVE to file things. And organize stuff. And do puzzles. (Bringing order from chaos?) I think my ideal job would be reshelving books at the library.

2. I love”genre” books, TV shows, and movies. I discovered science fiction /fantasy literature in grade school and am still a sucker for a good supernatural TV series. I miss Buffy terribly… I am currently enjoying Heroes, however.

3. I am an herbal addict. I am fascinated by their history and lore. I am captivated by their flavors and scents. I grow every type that I can find and have room for and am always looking for new and interesting ways to put them to use.

4. I collect buttons. I love looking at and sorting them by color and type into antique glass jars. Each button can be a tiny, individual work of art – they fascinate me. (and we won’t even start with my collections of shells, glass beads, books, McCoy pottery, more books, etc…)

5. I appear to be a Celtophile… I am so drawn to all things old-Celtic – art, music, mythology/legend, archeology… The biggest pull is fairly specific in time and place (pre-Christian, central west coast of Ireland… go figure. I don’t believe in past lives, so what is that about???) My kids are totally sick of hearing Celtic music in the car and in the background.

6. I have broken my left ankle three times – three years apart each time. That must mean something….
I think everyone in the world has done this Meme now - but if you *haven't* and decide to, let me know!

I love Buffy too! I have all the dvd box sets and am slightly obsessed..! :)
I got my prints done at Photobox and they are excellent quality and reasonably priced with 150 years fade resistance and all that. Thoroughly recommend them!

Happy birthday from one February gal to another (my life-long best friend shares your birthday and mine is in three days). I think you should retitle you "weird" list to "interesting" - nothing you couldn't do in public there! I wonder what it is about breaking a bone repeatedly (I've broken the same foot in the same place twice - but that's 'cause I keep forgetting I'm not a gazelle) - were you engaged in wildly divergent activities at each incident? I know for me, I'm extremely left bodied so all my injuries and strains and aches seem to be on that side. I'm surprised the right side doesn't wither away... As for your herb uses, maybe someday you'll be visiting an ancient standing stone site and be whisked away to the past and can make your way as a healer. (Sorry, I'm listening to a book on tape while I work - "Outlander", same premise.

the herbal thing is cool...i found out my great-grandmother was what they call in mexico a 'curandera', and she used a lot of herbal remedies. i have an herb garden as well, and use it for things other than just cooking. i hope your birthday was wonderful! and my son's birthday was the day after!
