Big Cities - Bologna

Spent a very nice afternoon in Bologna - a city renowned for its porticoes...

There was some pretty cool architecture - clock and bell towers, crenellated 'battlements'...

The streets were lined with varied and beautiful, huge porticoes - large enough for a couple of people on horseback to ride abreast... (and look at the cool mullioned windows!)

I loved looking into archways and getting peeks of mysterious architecture and topiaries...

Porticoes and towers - what could be better?

I love Bologna, if i remember correctly, there are some 46 kilometers of porticos. Great around Christmas, with candles lighting your way, and the fruit and vegetable market smelling of fresh oranges (nowhere in the world have I eaten better oranges than in Italy, those Tarocco ones from Sicily).
