We interrupt this vacation to bring you this report:

Last night I got to go downtown Seattle to see Loreena McKennitt (my musical hero!) in concert! How lovely and amazing was that!? We saw her and her retinue perform in a lovely, gold-gilded theater - packed to the gills with avid, enthusiastically fannish concert-goers. The stage decor was simple, yet gorgeous - with towering curtains of rich fabric, heavy lanterns and a pointed, arched structure in the center of the stage. Beautiful, saturated colored lights and smoke added atmosphere (it rather resembles her latest CD cover actually). Loreena was surrounded by nine amazing musicians, many playing multiple instruments - with lots of percussion elements, violin, cello, bass, guitars, and keyboards - to the more exotic Celtic Bouzouki, hurdy gurdy, Oud, Tabla, Lyra and Greek lute... It was gorgeous to see and amazing to hear, and over too soon...

And now back to the studio for this week's deadline, and to your regularly scheduled travel posts...

You lucky lucky person. I discovered Loreena from you blog, and now wonder what I ever did without her music. Though I still haven't caught up with her most recent album, but have bought mostly earlier ones so far. One of them was a wonderful album to play around yuletide.

You've had a busy weekend over here! (And I'm commenting on this post because your comments are turned off on yesterday's posts.) It was great seeing your artwork at the pubisher's fair. That must have been a bit surreal, seeing it there in Bologna. As for you, I can see that the trip clearly agreed with you. Especially after your winter of hard work. I think those of us from this part of the world appreciate the history and the architecture a wee bit more because we're just not used to looking at our man-made surroundings in terms of centuries or even millennia, are we?

Hi Tara, I tried to leave comments on the posts following this one but it seems you had the same Blogger issue as me this weekend... Blogger automatically set my posting option to Do not allow comments!!! I was able to manually change this for every post once I realized what had happened. Anyhow, I wanted to say how much I'm enjoying all your Italian posts. And the photos of Bologna made me feel like paying my Italian friend another visit! I do love that statue your publishers were uncomfotable with :-) Also, it must have been a great feeling to see your cover art in big poster form!
