Things - done and undone...

Besides the noble art of getting things done,
there is the noble art of leaving things undone.
The wisdom of life consists
in the elimination of the non-essentials.

So many things to be done - so little time. The wisdom of life eludes me rather thoroughly...

At least, school has begun. Our life is sorting itself out into something that is beginning to roughly resemble a routine. That should help. The early days of autumn are stunningly beautiful. Blackberries, which grow in invasive thorny waves anywhere they are not constantly removed, are hanging heavy and purple on long canes along the roadsides. The vine and silver maples are well on their way to turning red. My Jerusalem artichokes are topping 12 feet tall and are just now thinking about blooming. We made our first apple pie of the season last night. More fairies to paint...

My to-do list is discouragingly long and such little headway made...

One thing I am going to actually do on my neglected blog is send out a Big Thank You! to Linsday over at Tart's Tales.

Lindsay, I truly believe, can do anything. But one of my favorite things that she does is assemble these astonishingly lovely collage cards, which I adore - made of fabrics and floss and beads and sequins and charms and feathers, etc...! Check out her shop for more of her inventive offerings. Everyone should have something of Lindsay's!

I don't believe that my children are being much more successful at the leaving-things-undone thing either. They are SO involved in school and activities this year. Here they are, dressed up for their first pep-band stint at the first home football game of the season. At least they seem to wholeheartedly throw themselves into things and enjoy! :-)

Here's back to the list. And maybe someday, wisdom...

Thanks for stopping by! That was a great idea to add hats and shoes for a garland. I love it. I understand about to long a to-do-list. My grew exponentially as I'm back in school. I'm constantly finding things I should have done. Hopefully, you all get a morning to sleep in once in awhile and an afternoon or evening on the couch with a good movie.

Don't you love this time of year? Even though we didn't really get a summer here, I'm so happy to be entering the soothing and nurturing days of Fall. Not many blackberries around me here, but goodness and bounty all the same. I'm in total admiration of Lindsay's cards!!!
And here's to allowing things to be left undone when they need to. The "important" stuff tends to get done anyway. Blessings to you,

Ahh, but you have discovered the One Great Truth...to work at a task you truly enjoy.
All the same, sometimes lists do get a bit out of hand!
