Feeling like I need a little break from the painting-grind and also to clean out my email inbox, here are a few tidbits from this past week:
My 'Fairy Chronicles' publisher let me know that "Firefly and the Quest of the Black Squirrel" (book #4) has been acknowledged with a Mom's Choice Award - 2008 Gold Recipient: Distinctive Illustration.
I just finished the covers for the Fairy Chronicles books #11 and #12, so it's easy to lose objectivity on this huge project overall. It is gratifying to see that the effort is being enjoyed.
I was also notified this week that blogged.com has rated Silver Apples "great":
"Based on: Frequency of Updates, Relevance of Content, Site Design, and Writing Style." (which I find ironic given how irrelevant the current content seems to be as well as infrequent - but there you have it...)
At any rate, there are only a scant three weeks left on this schedule and then maybe I can regain enough brain power to become relevant again...? And to maybe visit *your* blogs once more?

Hey! That's fabulous your hard work is being recognized! Only three more weeks and you might be able to take a breather. We should celebrate with lunch.
yay! good for you! we got a good little snowy day; from about 11 am to about 3pm it snowed pretty steadily. and i looked outside just now, and it is snowing some good flurries again! (it is about 10 pm)
Well done on the award, most deserved. :)
Well done on your great blog rating!
P.
Congratulations! It's nice to hear that the outside world is paying attention to how fabulous your work is! Whoo-hoo! :) Needless to say, you deserve it!
Oh, I'm thrilled to hear about the Mom's Choice Award! That is fantastic. Also that more people are recognizing the overall grooviness of your blog.
That spring snow was gorgeous. Unfortunately it was heavy enough that it seems to have broken the fragile branches of a lot of flowering trees around here. :( I hope they'll be able to save the trees.
well done wit hyour Moms Choice Award! the fairy chronicles look fabulous!
and the snow is so pretty but its a hard thing waiting for spring to come.
Congrats on your Moms Choice Award! I'll have to pick it up for my daughter.
All your work is beautiful.
Wow what a daunting task your chronicles are... you'll do it marvellously I'm sure Tara...
Congrats on being blog-applauded :)
Wonder if it's still snowy there.. ours has melted for the time being!
Happy end of week x Rima
There's something so fairy tale like about falling snow...
Mr Nick keeps telling me it's forecast here for Sunday, I don't believe him though, (although I'd like to! It never snows here properly anymore).
I saw some little multi-coloured chicks at a market in Bahrain, many years ago when I was on a dig. It turned out that they inject the poor little things while they're still in the egg! Those ones look like like they've been 'interfered with' afterwards though, I'm sure they didn't mind too much....?
Fab news about your book Tara! And mums know best when it comes to books, don't they!
Hip Hip Hooray!
