Off again -

- heading out in the morning to Lexington, Kentucky for a 2-day book signing at Breyerfest (a thing that I was previously unaware existed.) Breyer ("Home to the World's Finest Model Horses") is collaborating with Feiwel & Friends (imprint of Macmillan) to produce a series of books called "The Wind Dancers" (the first cover of which is above) coming out in November.

I worked on the first four in illustrative collaboration with my good friend and POBL mate, Jo Gershman (again - too many illustrations needed in way too short a time to do them all myself). We finished the first four early this year and are now starting into the second batch of four.

Anyhow, I'm off to the horse-center of the universe to greet horse-model collecting, horse-book buying little girls. If you don't read about my demise-due-to-humidity (I was unaware that this was an *outdoor* festival. In Kentucky. In *July*. There is a reason I live in the Pacific Northwest!), I will be back on Sunday.

Ooo my daughter was keen on those horses for a while, since moved onto other things since then. Just as well as they cost an arm and a leg.

Have fun!
Cheers

I know Lexington pretty well! (spent about 7 weeks there in 2001, on a work assignment).

Have fun at this horse-y fair!

I had a few of those model horses as a girl. Back then Margerite Henry was the big horsie author. Last year for one of the drawing classes I teach I got some model horses for the students to draw before we went on a field trip to see the real thing. HAve fun!

Oh, if I were little again, I'd be in heaven. I loved hourses so much and rode all the time. Love the cover. It's so inviting. I thought I'd let you know I passed on a blogger award. normally, I don't do this but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your art and creativity.

Is your paper curling up?Mine does when it's humid. Have you registered at Tor.com? I'm looking for your profile there.
