Music Monday - Happy Solstice!

Happy first day of summer! (although you wouldn't know it given how chilly it still is here. We had to turn the heat on yesterday!)

Here is Loreena McKennitt's "All Soul's Night" (I know, I know - that's really in October, but for some reason I've always liked it more for the summer solstice than Samhain...) - one of my favorites of hers.

Here's hoping that it actually starts to *feel* like summer at some point. :-)

I love Loreena, I was listening to her all day yesterday and I think I listened to "The Mystic's Dream" like three times. :)

Yes! I was listening to Lorenna all day. Thinking I should be carving a pumpkin and drinking a glass of red wine!

So it feels like summer in Texas. I guess this is what I get for all the winter gloating I did :).

Growing up, Midsummer in our village was always celebrated with a big bonfire and adults would jump over it. I never saw anyone actually fall into the fire, but some near misses could be observed every year.

I remember walking home those nights with the voices of the people celebrating growing fainter to closer I came to my parents' house, and the fragrance of linden blossoms welcoming me when I reached it. I fell asleep with the faint noises of the adults still partying around the bonfire in the fields and the heady perfume of the linden blossoms filling my bedroom.
