WIP Wednesday - overt plagarism

- also known as Master Copies.... I am a big admirer of Justin Gerard's work (so much so in fact, that I am importing him to teach a Professional Series workshop in March. More on that anon -)
I love the WIP's he posts on his blog. His post on warthogs is full of such beautiful drawings...

..and his character studies are wonderful to behold.

I also purchased one of his sketchbooks this year -which is the best he's produced by far thus far. (Trying to push my copies a little closer to what I'd draw here)...  Anyway - fun to do!

Because Justin Gerard was undoubtedly influenced by Arthur Rackham! Nothing wrong at all with learning from someone we admire, I learned a lot about painting from studying the big AR myself. Kudos if you get Gerard for a workshop!

Are these your copies of his work, or his sketchbooks?

These are my copies of Justin's work (which you can see the originals if you click the various links).

I know Justin inspired these but I love the Taraesque delivery....especially the last one.
