Monster Score!

I've blogged before about the wonder that is Jennifer Strunge's Cotton Monsters. What is not so wondrous - for *me* - is that she sells them as fast as she makes them. Consequently, I still do not own one.

However, she has deigned to offer a crumb to us poor, monster-less beings. If you check her Etsy shop, you can purchase, for mere pennies, a packet of monstrous delights:

Your very own assortment of monster 'patches'! Incredibly fabulous block prints of Jennifer's critters on various fabrics. They are pretty darn wonderful. I'm going to have to gaze fondly and fondle them a bit before I can begin determining what they will end up adorning.

It may be a mere pittance compared to having your very own monster to cuddle, but for now I will have to be content.

Monsters Ahead!

I won't bore you with my tale of woe (the one about me being over being sick - but still so drained that I can hardly make myself do anything. That tale.) and instead just direct you to the coolest monster site ever.

Now I've been a fan of Uglydolls for some time but I'm afraid that they will have to be firmly supplanted by the newly discovered Cotton Monsters!

These amazing and nearly animate-looking creatures are the creations of the Baltimore native, wildly imaginative artist, Jennifer Strunge. (Fabulous interview of her here).

The only problem I see with these engaging critters is that she sells out of them about as fast as she makes them. (Please Santa - won't you get some elves to help her out for Christmas? I'd reallyreallyreally like one!) And it's not just stuffed plushies. There are inflatable monsters, puppet monsters and wearable monsters. (OK - I admit it. The Monster Bra has got to be my favorite!)

I'll probably dream of plush monster babies in my sleep tonight...
