Succulent Saturday - winter mushrooms

When coming back in the house this afternoon, I glanced at the large bed underneath the conifer trees in my front yard....

It was *covered* with mushrooms - 

-all different kinds, sizes, shapes....

Don't think I've ever seen so many out there....

It must mean *something*... Intense pre-solstice fairy activity?

Retreat - Part IV

Although this is primarily an art retreat - we do also revel in the food!

Meals are fairly simple, but absolutely scrumptuous!

(for instance, this yummy dinner of enormous tossed green salad,, roasted  beets, fresh herb pasta and wild mushroom sauced spinach-chive pasta..)

Speaking of wild mushrooms - there were mushrooms again this year...

Our local mushroom expert knows many of the yummy edibles, and every year we find new ones to attempt to identify...

Wild mushroom soup - primarily filled with luscious chanterelles...

And then there's always cake! (Happy Birthday Michelle).
