Finished promo...

After teaching 3 classes this week, I finally got a couple of hours today to finish up this painting. Will FedEx it off tomorrow, and then on to other things! Happily, the weather has been miserable, chilly and wet, so the temptation to head outside has been minimal - but will hope for nicer temperatures this weekend to get some more things in the ground.

I'm wanting a title for this piece... Something more imaginative than "Happy Birthday" or "The Party"... Ideas?

What beautiful colours, I love the way the way the light falls...especially the delicate shades of the table top space

I'm rubbish at titles. Looking at this I'd be thinking about what is actually going on in the picture, which has a little story in it - the finger marks in the cake..the little trail leading back to a chocolately hand. If it were a book cover, what would the title of the book be? 'Before the guests arrive?' No, too longwinded.
See, I'm useless. :)

P.S. Do you know of any places I could 'bring my show on the road' in your area? Would love to do that some day...

Jo suggested "Can't Wait" as a title - which I think is perfect!

I'm horrible at titles too! But I like "Can't Wait" - that's great.
Beautiful finish, Tara! You can just read the boy's face so well, both mischevious and worried at the same time. I love it!

What beautiful rich surfaces and rich but subdued colors! Nice flesh tones and green eyes even tie in the colors. I like the reflected light on the table and the eye passages in the composition...

I vote for "Can't wait" or "Devil's Food", or Gudrun's "Innocent"...

Beautiful!
The title: "Can't wait" sounds perfect for it!
I can't seem to stop looking at the boys eyes...they are so expressive!
