And the weather saga continues...

This has been quite the weather month! Record breaking rains, floods, winds, hail and now snow! It really started coming down while we were at church today - big, fat, wet clumps of snow. The kids were very excited - for all of our winter precipitation, we rarely get cold enough for snow - and they've missed it terribly. In the eight years we've lived here we've maybe had snow once or twice a season and it rarely lasts 24 hours on the ground if it has stuck at all. My son took the dog out for a protracted walk/romp and my daughter went out (in the dark!) and built a snowman. A first for here I think.

Now they are hoping for it to continue through the night so that school will be canceled tomorrow. When it *does* snow and stick, everything shuts down here. :-)

Apparently we had a little bit of snow this morning, but it didn't stick.

Did school end up being cancelled?

Wimps!! Heheh, just kidding..but I've lived in Nebraska, the land of three days of autumn. First day, it's beautiful with a few leaves turning golden. Second day, grey, bitingly cold and wet. Third day, colder, grey.. all the leaves are on the ground in black piles. Then it snows and doesn't stop until summer. Nothing ever shuts down. I remember the kids playing outside at recess in whiteout blizzards. We also went to Eskimo pick-nicks...cookouts with six foot snowdrifts...good times!
