Big Cities - Siena

I am totally compelled by windows - and there were so many great ones here!

From fancy-shmancy ones -

To much more modest offerings - albeit still full of character!

Look! Look! Single, double and triple mullioned windows all on one building front!!

A very graphic sense of design pervaded the plaza surrounding the cathedral.

And occasionally, you'd even get to see the occupants behind them. :-)

Thank you for these wonderful travel posts! I enjoy them immensely. My oldest is named after Catherine of Siena (I love the Italian way to write and pronounce the name: Ka-te-ri-na, written Caterina). I love the stark black and white of the cathedral and its surroundings. There's also a wonderful old draw well in the gardens of the cathedral, too many beautiful things, really. I will go to Italy in July, visit friends in Tuscany, Umbria, Latium, and Rome. Can't wait. I am so glad you enjoyed your time there.
