To answer Tom's question -
The feet in the Bologna sculpture post belonged to this concrete lion. (This was one of a number of 'violent' sculptures in this lovely, idyllic little park, surrounding a fountain...). The anatomy was so detailed, as you can see in the foot close-up, or the protruding tongue on this wildebeasty-critter, or if you walked around the back, you could also unquestionably determine that these animals were anatomically correct (and amply endowed) males... I didn't take a picture of that, however...

Now that is a disappointment, dear Tara! *chuckle*
Thanks for all the fab photos... looks likje your trip was wonderous. Enjoy your time off and hope it's not too long a break!
I have been so enjoying seeing all your vacation photos, The sculptures are simply amazing, what a wonderful trip you have had.
Wow, I'm not used to people listening to me. Thank you, thank you! Maybe it's obvious from my work, but I love this kind of stuff. Now that I see the full thing I can tell that it's concrete.
I have hundreds of photos of sculptures I took in Paris that I'll have to scan (it was done with a film camera) and post.
