Artwork for Tom...

Tom had mentioned awhile back that I don't seem to post much *ART* on this, my supposed art-blog. Alas - 'tis true. The projects that I am working on can't be posted here until they are printed (how do you other art guys get to do it? I see any number of fantasy artists posting the covers they are working on as they paint and/or finish them... Here for instance).

These, at least, are viewable now on Amazon - so I believe are fair game to be posted here. The first four books of the Fairy Chronicles should be in a Bookstore Near You of which I have illustrated them in entirety (covers, 20 full interior illustrations plus assorted spots). For Books #5-8, I am only doing the covers, given that unfortunately, there is NOT unlimited time and resources in our current permutation of the space-time continuum...

Given the whole time-space limitation, this has also greatly curtailed any personal work I might endeavor to attempt. I have folders of theoretical projects on my desk in various states of completion (including more Celtic Tree Alphabet people, Julia. They are at this time only personal work - and as such, thus far, unpublished. I'd love to finish up the entire alphabet (20 characters/trees) , but *when*?)...

So it is somewhat of a dilemma. Even though I have worked more and produced more art in the last couple of years than I have my entire art-life, I can't post most of it as I go (and then it seems nearly passe months later when it is available to do so).

Ideally, life would be a balance - time for paid commissioned work as well as personal work-of-your-heart (not to mention growing some things in your garden and spending some time with your family, etc...) I don't know anyone who seems to be able to fully pull that off though. Maybe in fits and spurts? Such seems to be the fate of the freelancer...

If your experience differs, do tell!

Oh Tara, these are gorgeous. That troll character is something else.
LOVE IT!
I've noticed people post before pieces are published but I don't think you are supposed. They are braver than me for sure!

Equisite work Tara and never passe ever!
It's a delight to see what you do.
What I like about the freelancer's life is everyday can be a weekend or a holiday. Of course when others are holidaying, you're usually rushing to meet a deadline!

Incredible, I love the detail in your art work. It is a shame you can't post more, but I'm glad to see you have integraty.

These look fun! I particularly love the first cover. Really beautiful! I hear you about wishing for more balance in your work life. I'm in the same boat! But as Carol said, there is also much freedom in being freelance and I love nothing more than wandering into town on a day off, when everybody else is working ;-)

While it's true, you do not post a lot of your paintings, I always have the feeling to spend time in an artist's studio when I visit you. I always love the work you are showing us, but also the photographs, your special eye, so much to learn from, also from your "talks".

The pale rose seems to have the same color I encountered some time ago (I posted it on the Strawberry blog). Do you know her name?

Have a great and creative day!

Tara your art work is absolutely
~exquiste~ is the perfect word! I love the characters you create..they have so much soul! I am amazed at how skilled you are and I am sure your passion is a labor of love because it shows in the characters that you create!

Do we ever find that balance that you speak of? I am still trying and I am retired from my chosen career and family is all grown up and living on their own!Life continues to be a juggling act but I suppose that is why we women are are good at ~muti-tasking~ hugs NG

P.S...boy could I use your talents
to sketch on the walls of my ~flower fairy cottage!!~
