As some of you surmised, I was in the Washington DC area last week. It was a whirlwind of visits, seminar and sightseeing. I initially went out to attend a weekend seminar, but as my brother and sister and their families both live in the area, my trip got extended a little on either side to spend a little bit of time with them. And, since I was staying a bit longer, it turns out I had time to go see my publishers who were in town attending ALA (amazing!).
So for my adventure, my sweet husband upgraded my frequent-flyer ticket to first-class (THAT is a whole other experience from coach. wow!) and in the few days I was back east, I got to spend some time in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia and DC. Some of the places I ventured are shown below....

Your life is full of glitz and glamour.
..wanna swap? ;¬)
Oh, Tara, I get so homesick looking at those pictures. :-(
Don't you love the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware?
I didn't know you were familiar with the Pennsylvania to DC area. Your parents house reminds me of ours, only we had ivy growing all over it, but woods like you in the backyard (and closer to DC, 30 minutes to the Library of Congress along Clara Barton Parkway and on).
Nice photograph.

What a great tour! My favourites: the graveyard, the folk art and you with the books! Now get back to work! :)
Isn't is interesting the beauty that lays hidden from the interstates in all states. Thanks for the tour.
Sounds like you had a fabulous time!!! I'm delighted for you! I know your free time is counted so it's nice to have little adventures such as these :-)
Hi Tara - just I am getting back to commenting & reconnecting - ooh must go and look at the fairy chronicles!
What an excellent adventure, and again so exciting to see your work published. Hope your garden is not too over grown from not being there. I have been on my own little adventure again and I'm growing very strange wonky tomato plants.
Sounds like you had a nice visit. I looked at your website and your work is wonderful.

Glad you had a break...all work and no play is never good. You are spoiled rotten...first class, huh? Hope your getting some of that good weather for your Forth of July holiday :D
First class, now that is how to fly!
I hope all went well with your publishers.
Hi Tara,
Thanks for you comment on my blog. I will let you know if I find any art opportunities here in Utah. We've only been here a week so I am still checking things out. It is so hot here though, I am not sure how long we can manage, but I am trying to stay cool. The mornings are beautiful though and today I found some lovely wild grasses and herbs on a walk, so things like that help.
Take care.
I'm glad you had a great time in my neck of the woods, I live in Delaware (most people say what state is that in?). It looks like you had a great time.
Your website and pictures are great...I sell tons of faerie stuff at our market...I will have to look up your books.
