I've seen her work on her blog for some time now, so it was fun to put a face and voice behind the art.
She has a brand-new, roomy studio space in the bottom floor of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer - where she is artist in residence, as well as curator for the art shows they hang there. (Here, my son examines some of the artwork she has displayed for sale. Really interesting and beautiful stuff).
Other artists were there showing their wares as well. I bought some exceptionally lovely collage cards from Bridgette Guerzon Mills (check out her blog here).
Here again is Justin, contemplating one of our personal favorites.
One of the fun things about the show was that it also had an older piece by the renowned Andrea Pratt, which I hadn't seen before, and almost didn't recognize as hers since her style has evolved in the intervening years. There were a lot of beautiful things hung to see - my other favorite being some of the textiles.
I'm glad I got to see it, however it put me back a couple of days - throat-of-flame and no energy afterwards. Still taking it very slow today. Luckily, the weather is inclement enough to discourage even the desire to leave the house (temperatures have risen again - so back to rain. Copious amounts of rain. Record flooding. Canceled events. Emergencies declared. Windstorms imminent).
Time for another cup of herbal tea and I think I'll go back to bed to wait it out.

Ooo I can't remember when I last visited a gallery. Lucky you.
Cheers
Something peculiar has happened to blogger comments so just for now, this is my calling card "Whittereronautism"so we can find each other.
Nice exhibit. Also nice to see your Justin! Hope you are on the mend and feeling better.
Thanks for stopping by the kittenarium. The pc has been down since Thursday and I only got it back an hour ago!
Hope your germs have gone!
thank you for sharing this with us...i love the work of bridgette...feel better soon...keep warm...hugs, r
Looks like you had a very nice time with your son.
It must have been such a sweet surprise to find Andrea's painting there! Small World. :-)
I hope you are feeling better by now.
I'm not really into abstract art but her paintings do look interesting.
Take it easy.
Hey Tara,
I'm sorry to hear that you got sick! That is no fun. I already went through one round of it this winter, and it's true, taking care and waiting is all you can do. And apparently continue to blog if you are Tara. ;)
I'm glad that you got to go to this woman's studio-- I was tempted to go when you sent the announcement earlier, but I'm in the middle of a work everyday crunch right now and can hardly spare any free time. Thanks for going and photoing and sharing. She seems like a neat person.
Hope you're much better by now,TLC. I don't envy you snow already - we just have very strong winds here in the Scottish Borders tonight but at least we have a computer connection back - twenty four hours seemed MUCH MUCH longer!
xxL
This was a fun post for me to read/look at and since I couldn't go I was really glad you got to go instead. And it's weird for me to see that older painting hanging up somewhere else. And the weather -- weird isn't it? 0C here on the weekend and dumping snow but now 14C and torrential rains. Anyway, I hope you're 100% again soon! Take care.
your son is so handsome. what a nice exhibit. i like the idea of the holiday art sales...and not giving more money to macy's or target!
Iwas nice to meet you at Angela's Open Studio. I hope you enjoy your cards!
Thanks for the links. :)
Hope you're all better ;) My favourite tea for sniffles and flu is Red Zinger, but then we don't get a huge selection here, certainly nothing as nice as the lovelies you sent from your herb garden! The exhibition looked great...nice to do some shopping too!
Thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed looking through the textile link.
Penny.
Lovely blog! Love your artwork!

I hope you're feeling much better Tara. Keep drinking that warm comforting tea!
Hoping too that the weather has considerably improved. I remember your posts from this time last year...
Tara, I've just given you the "You're An Amazing Blogger" award!
