We interrupt this art blog -

for a mini-rant.

I spent a large chunk of my day with my daughter at the ever-pleasant (translate: hot, sweaty, glacierally slow and incredibly over-crowded) Department of Licensing. She was there to take her written test, schedule her driving test and renew her learner's permit - all of which should have taken 30 minutes combined, tops. If you have ever been to the DOL, you'll know that it took much, much longer than that, with extreme amounts of under staffing and inefficiency.

However, my real gripe is that this is the nature of government run organizations. There are many people right now promoting the notion of standardized or universal (i.e. government run) health care as the solution to all of our country's health care woes. While I agree, there are problems, and we should be working on ways to fix them, BUT do you really want the people who run the ever-pleasant DOL running your health care? Really?

argh!

And now back to our regularly scheduled art posts....

No, you don't! Well, not if they are like this bunch of misfits. I have heard that some Scandinavian countries do a pretty good job, but that's not much help, is it!

Government run anything means nonsense before practicality. I often shake my head at what kind of logic is used in deciding how they run agencies. If it makes sense, it must not be done :) I'm sure some of them do the best they can but it is frustrating never the less. Thanks for stopping by. Your advice along with another's will be most hellpful. After all, I want to feel lighter and more free so I can get on with the business of art!

Check out how France does government-run health care. It can work.

This is why we love where we live. If anyone is gettig a liscence here and it takes that long it is because we are discussing the kids. People think we should consolodate with the cities and have to drive which we are very much against.
