Drawing on the road -

I took a couple of illustration-idea folders with me this weekend to see if I could make any further progress on some rough thumbnails I've had hanging around desk for awhile. This one was based on a rejected idea from a Fairy Chronicles cover - but now with a very different kind of faery.
Debating whether to take this further or not...

I would go further with it, too. I like how playful the little fairie is, and the suggestion that the snake is looking backwards up at him, maybe a little put out. It starts to tell a story, and it's fun!

You definitely are exploring the "dark" side when you start illustrating rattlers. Yuck. It's hard to believe I had a pet ball python at one time. I sure wouldn't want one now.

I like how you cropped the snake. It creates an interesting perspective. I wish I could see the fairy more though.

I've been drawing on the road, too, but I used sidewalk chalk! :) (BTW Woman of Many Travels, will you be in Seattle the last weekend in May?)
