Figureless Friday - i.e. Computer Disaster

After dragging myself to bed the other night after a long day working, my cat knocked over an unattended glass of water - right onto my beloved laptop.... *sigh*... (bad, bad, BAD kitteh!)

It has been drying, in scattered pieces for several days, yet still won't turn on when reassembled (luckily the harddrive seems undamaged, so my files have all been backed up), so I guess it's time to call in the Big Dell Guns and see what must be done.

In the meantime, I only have my old crotchety, nearly-antique back-up laptop that is so slow as to be nearly unbearable to use for much more than keeping track of my email. I've spent the last three days downloading updates, but it is still miserable to use - so until my lovely green machine comes back to me in working order, I'm afraid I will remain imageless and more silent than not online.

Fare thee well until happier times.....

I always imagine that happening here with our cats. they're always trying to get up on my desk.

Ah yes, when I was in my ninth month of pregnancy I bumped a glass of orange juice onto my then laptop...I sometimes think I should get one of those military laptops that you can take in the bush and drop and get wet - because of course I now have a toddler who is fascinated with buttons :)

Glad your hard drive is ok and hope to see more of you here soon!

catzzzzzz!!!!!!! Destruction hidden in soft cutsie fur. You would have to be crazy to let one live in your house.

Yeah, I have one too...kitchen cabinets, destroyed, china goose, broken, holes clawed in oriental carpet, sweaters snagged, hair every where. Why do I put up with this!!!!!!*&*%

I love him.

How goes the repairs?

oooofff. Sorry it happened. hope you're back running smoothly soon. And I don't envy you needing to wait on permanent hold with Dell. :-(

I feel your pain, Tara! Lost half a year of pictures last September. External hard drive I use while traveling simply gave up.

So good to hear that your hard drive made it through. Good luck with getting your lovely grey friend back to life!

Hugs,
Merisi

we were banned from drinking tea and coffee at work at the reception desk after a couple of keyboard drownings, then the boss came out and did the same thing one day...so it wasn't just us! not allowed cats at work unfortunately!!
