Sketch check:

Anatomy check on this one. I don't have very good reference for this pose, and the shoulder area is just *wrong*. (And is the head too big?). Gudrun! Suzy! Draw me a 'fixed' one! :-)

I know that Gudrun or Suzy will know about withers and height of neck, etc. But my sense of it is that the head is too short. Or maybe I'm confusing mule vs. donkey.

I am refering to the bridge of the nose fron the nostrals to the eyes looking short to my eyes. What do you call that part of the head?

how do I draw on this or were you joking. His bottom and gut should be bigger, so should the manger as they all come toward us. The manger at the back should be more parralel with the barn slats. His gut would not obscure his shoulder completely. I think you could solve a lot of the problem by raising the manger up to block the bottom of his stomach . Compositionally that would divide the picture nicely too I think.

I feel terrible, I am in such a hurry I haven't been telling you all the great stuff. But onward...I'd let roof overhang a little more. are you going to put some doves in the little high opening? I get the feeling thepeek of your roof is shifted to the left not the right as it should be. Be sure there is depth to the occupants of the stable. ie size changes backward so we are not stopped at door with tableau. Something about the palm tree to right seem off center too. Like stem needs to be moved right or thickened.

I don't mind the head being a bit big here and the length is okay. I would definitely smooth out the shoulder lines however. Leave out the line on the withers that goes down his backbone. The left nostril is a bit low. Needs to be parallel to the other. Hindquarters could be a bit bigger. Suzy
