Setting goals...

A friend and I had tea today with an enthusiastic young artist. She asserts that she *always* keeps her New Year's Resolutions (impressive on it's own) and talked about her goal setting - which is always in terms of things that *she* has control over rather than ... the alternative. (For instance, a goal for this year being to finish a book dummy and get it mailed to publishers (which is completely within her control) vs. getting published (out of her control)).

I've been thinking more about this and think that it is an incredibly important (albeit incredibly obvious - though not always followed) approach! I want to ponder a bit more and make sure my personal goal setting follows this criteria...
