Garden Fairies....

This week's weather has been glorious. The bright blue days of October... I've been busily sketching to meet this week's deadline. In the midst of drawing, I had a lovely little visit from my postman, bringing me treats from a couple of garden fairies (my mother and aunt - both creative, artistic and avid gardeners).

My mother sent some jerusalem artichoke tubers for me to put in the ground this fall. They grow rather spectacularly here in my beds - twice the height of the neighboring fence, however the flowers are rather anticlimatic. At least the tubers are yummy.

My aunt's surprise and delightful package contained treats from her garden - dried pears, cherry jam, and mini pumpkins - with dried apple pieces as packing material.

Hooray for mail fairies, far and wide!

Of course, as soon as I was ready to actually PUT things in the ground, the weather has turned into typical Seattle autumn grey, dismal, chilly and rainy. Without sunshine, sketching takes endless cups of tea to keep up the pace. Hopefully, the weather will break again long enough to do a bit of planting once I get my next batch of drawings off...

How wonderful! You've got me in a fall sort of mood! Thank you for the details (you have a way with words), and the photos (you have a way with seeing things).
