Sunday Sketching -

 Attended FaerieCon West this weekend, so got to sketch a few panel speakers -

- in addition to church (and more panels).

In the teensy purse Moleskine balanced upon my knee...

WIP Wednesday - the Faerie Art Show

 This year, I curated the Faerie Art Show for Krab Jab Studio.

Happily, a number of top notch artists agreed to participate. 

I also helped physically lay out the show, and 'decorate' the studio to make it more faerie-licious.

The turn-out was brisk, despite impending inclement weather.

There was lots of fabulous art - here from Sheila and Omar Rayyan.

Brian Froud (there are Pressed Faerie paintings as well as a number of incredible fine art prints).

Gorgeous graphite from Jean-Baptiste Monge - along with many many other pieces. (You can see the online catalog here).

Along with the original art, there are books and prints - so many visual delights!

The other thing I worked on was the snack table - a faerie feast!

- an assortment of dark delectables.

- and goblin fruits. :-)

The crowning centerpiece of the entire spread was this overflowing basket of incredibly realistic meringue mushrooms (made by an uber-talented friend of mine).

Aren't they gorgeous? (The looked realistic enough that no one would eat them until I labeled them).

This tiny art patron got her handful of goblin fruit and faerie mushrooms and staked out a section of floor to enjoy a picnic.

Lots of friends came to support - despite a bleak and snowy evening.

Thanks again to head poohbah, the illustrious Julie Baroh, for facilitating all things Krab Jab.

It was a lovely night, and even a more lovely show.

You still have a couple of weeks to see it. This weekend, it will be at FaerieCon West - along with a half dozen of the show's artists.

Music Monday - Green Grow the Rushes Oh (FaerieCon Part II)

Felt like we need a little Cherish the Ladies today....  

(So love Aiofe Clancy's voice).

My remaining day at FaerieCon West was full of fun -

 Got to be on a panel with a handful of amazing artists (Julie Baroh, Echo Chernik, Brom, Heather Hudson and Emily Fiegenshuh (you'll have to google them yourself. I'm not looking up that many links tonight).

 Spent a goodly portion of the day helping at the booth. Got to talk to lots of fun people.

 The adorable Patricia Hedegaard (who taught the gargoyle class the day before)-

 One of my favorite authors, Charles de Lint (and his lovely wife MaryAnn), and Nina Kiriki Hoffman -

It takes a lot of energy! (I thought these the most practical footwear of the day!)

FaerieCon West - Part I

  I spent today at FaerieCon helping out at the Krab Jab booth with the lovely Julie Baroh (who is hosting the Faerie Art show this month) - showing off a number of the art pieces - 

 It was fun seeing old friends -  faery writer, Jessa MacBeth -

 The exquisite faery artist  - Renae Taylor -

 She draws, paints, makes wings and lanterns and dolls. And lives out in the boonies with dogs, cats, peacocks, and a gazillion other fowl. I have farm envy...

The fabulous Echo Chernik (and hubby Lazarus) -

 At the end of the day, I took a "Faery Academy Class" with amazing sculptor, Patricia Hedegaard (fun!)

And the gal in the booth next door let me be her 'hair model' - 

- and tied glittery silver strands in my hair -

(my husband and daughter both freaked out a little bit about the glitters - but hey, it's FaerieCon!)

FaerieCon West -

 As I reported in a previous blog post,  my latest painting is hanging in a Faery Art show with Krab Jab Studios in Seattle this month.

The timing of this show purposely coincides with this weekend's FaerieCon West.

(I attended the first one last year - reported on it here).

 This year, I'm helping man Krab Jab's booth. There will be samples of pieces from the show (this one is by my artist sister, Tory Taber).

..... and will be participating on this panel Saturday at noon. (this is one panel from Norman Taber's triptych).

Succulent Saturday - FaerieCon West, Part III

 We also squeezed in as much time with the fun vendors as possible.

 This gal makes pointy, leafy, leather ear-tips. Clever and really cute on.

 I loved this guys' hand-made stuffed goblins. 

 And this gal makes the most gorgeous, traditional Venetian papier mache masks -

 Cyndy (the mask maker) also did a face-casting demonstration - 

 It looks immensely doable... I may have to try this at some point!

Aren't they gorgeous? Maybe my favorite thing of the day.
